Vacation lock (security lock mode)

A mode on modern opener wall consoles that tells the opener to ignore every remote and keypad signal — only the wall console itself can move the door — until the mode is switched off. It is the radio equivalent of removing the key from a lock, and the correct way to secure the door during travel (unplugging the opener also kills safety systems, smart alerts, and sitter access). If your wall console has no lock button, the opener likely predates other features worth having too.

Why this term matters for homeowners
